Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions
Patient education is a big component of what we provide here at Maxwello Dental & Orthodontics in addition to all the hands-on clinical services, because the more you know, the healthier your smile will be! Below, we’ve answered some of our frequently asked dentistry questions, but if there is anything else you’d like to ask our team, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
One of my teeth really hurts. What should I do?
If you’re experiencing any type of persistent dental pain, you should definitely give Maxwello Dental & Orthodontics a call. A toothache could be a sign that the enamel is cracked or the tooth is infected, and waiting will only allow the problem to get worse. We’ll be able to repair it and stop the pain right away!
How can I get rid of the gap between my front teeth?
This is a very common flaw, and there are actually two ways we can close the space: direct bonding and porcelain veneers. Bonding involves applying composite resin to the enamel to build it up, or we can place thin porcelain veneers over the teeth to give them a more uniform appearance. Both treatments are reliable and beautiful, and we can help you figure out which one would be best for you if you give us a call.
Is there a way to straighten my teeth that doesn’t involve metal braces?
Yes! You can get clear/ceramic braces, which are designed to blend into the smile, or ClearCorrect, an aligner system that is practically invisible. Both approaches are designed to preserve a patient’s day-to-day appearance while shifting their teeth into the correct positions, ensuring they never have to worry about friends or coworkers noticing their dental work.
How long does it take to get dental implants?
This really depends on a patient’s specific situation. In most cases, the dental implant process usually takes a few months from the initial consultation all the way until a patient leaves our dental office with a rebuilt smile. For some, however, we can actually restore an entire row of teeth in a single visit using All-on-4 dentures. We usually recommend them for patients whose jawbones are too thin or weak to support regular implants, and you can see if they would be right for you by giving us a call.
Can a dentist really help with sleep apnea/snoring?
Yes! These problems actually physically occur in the mouth and throat, and using a specially-made oral appliance, Dr. Plummer can ensure a patient’s airway stays open during the night so they are able to breathe normally while sleeping, stop snoring, and get the quality rest they need. She has already helped countless patients using this simple method and could do the exact same for you. Contact us today to learn more about our sleep apnea therapy options.
Do you take dental insurance?
Yes, Maxwello Dental & Orthodontics is in-network with major PPO dental insurance plans, and we’re able to work with all out-of-network plans as well. To see how we can use your specific policy to help you save at your next appointment, give us a call today.
